Touching the wildlife

Touching the wildlife

In continuation of the previous subject and never-ending issue of captive wildlife exploitation, I decided to try and explain how it is for wild animals to be touched. They are held in close company to their owners and trained to be in everyday contact with different people. Every single day. Hysterical people want to have a memory worth of admiration, “animal lovers” want to touch and pet their beautiful ears, back, to hug them and talk to them with their high tone voices, which we usually use when talking to babies.

It is frightening! To hear this high toned voice, to smell people’s bodies and later that same smell on their bodies left by people’s sweaty hands. To not be able to move because they will be punished by a trainer, hit or closed, chained or held apart from other animals.

As for baby animals, they will often be “lightly “ drugged, to avoid their sudden moves and to start their “education” and adaptation to human contact from a very early age. In this stage, baby animals will see blurred, the heartbeat will be faster and then slower than again faster and so on until they are completely exhausted and very upset. Most of them will not have mothers or at least left all day long without their mother's company..since mothers also have to “work” and be touched by people, disturbed and posed for pictures. Instead of resting and breastfeeding their babies, mothers have to be there for your pictures and you to admire them in your own stupid and selfish way.

When left alone after a long day of interaction with humans, animals will feel exhausted, angry, sad and often will be hungry or in pain since very few will get any medical treatment for wounds gained during training or during a day, when they make mistakes. How would you feel if touched by strangers, if they would scream at you and pat your head and back all day long, ride on your back and pull your ears? At least triple this emotion since our spirit is way more adapted for community interaction and communication of a different kind. Wild animals have just one way of interacting. Their own. That is why nature has a perfect order of things and actions, when we, humans don’t intervene. Forcing wildlife to be close and to interact with us is pure harassment. All we have to do is to preserve their environment and to leave them to be. We should understand the concept of borrowing this environment and protecting it.
