Coronavirus - lessons we learned

Coronavirus

The outbreak of the Coronavirus in China Wuhan has taught us a life lesson. We have become so connected that the virus can’t be hidden and that is good news. These days countries have closed boundaries to China travelers and reported cases show hundreds of victims. The outbreak of virus happened after transmission from a wild animal to a human. Very fast adaptation and mutation in each individual raised concerns to the WHO (World Health Organization) announcement that it is now a global issue and it should be treated as such.

Before gossiping about political and economic perspectives, first, there should be an understanding of the very nature of the virus. It is a member of the Nidovirales family, has a very large genome consisted of one strand nucleic acid-RNA. The capsid is well-formed and as well as other parts, the virus contains proteins that will help during transmission into the host cell. When the receptor on the host cell membrane accepts invader, the coronavirus is on his path to a better life, gaining more strength in the form of cellular energy form the main resource in mitochondria. It is imitating mRNA in its normal functioning, replication, and transcription of genetic code. This gives the virus a chance to rewrite and change the host code for its welfare. The final goal is to reach nuclear DNA and change immunity response of the cell and thus a whole organism.

When infected with this specific type of coronavirus, a person will most likely go through its cycle with difficulties but if it is a healthy person, without chronic disease and with normal immunity response, the virus can be treated and stoped before affecting person organs. In another case, when a person is olde, in poor physical condition, or a young child with no developed immunity, chances of going through disease without consequences are low and unfortunately, the majority will get pneumonia, lung infection, organ failure. We don’t know all the possible outcomes because authorities don’t want to raise panic and as always, these data become public only later.

It is expected that the peak of the virus pandemic happens in a couple of months after WHO announced global warning so probably in April or May. Before that time, many countries will stop any actions considering travel to and from China, and maybe other centers if the virus significantly raises in the number of infected and victims.

To act with empathy, to raise concerns and help if possible in any way, is our major task now. The lesson we learned is that putting wildlife in suffering only for purposes of our (unnecessary) diet has caused major losses. The number of victims is almost doubled every day and people are scared, in panic. This is no time for judgment, speculations of any kind. But it is also no time to try to save “the face”.

Besides measures of cautions, wearing a mask, disinfection, high level of hygiene, etc it is desirable to work on immunity built- diet low with industrial sugar and high in C vitamin, avoiding food which creates an acidic environment in the body. Stay positive and safe:)
